To our beloved patrons and friends, After nearly forty years of loyal patronage and support, you have become part of our family. It has been our joy to host you, serve you and share in your lives. This hospitality business is in our family's genes. What began as our mother's dream in a small guesthouse on Hampton Beach turned into our life’s work. From our roots on Hampton Beach with the fun of the busy tourist season and the quiet winters with the locals, we honed our skills and fueled our passion for service. After the devastating fire in 1999, we were determined to keep our family and employees together and continue the Old Salt. After temporarily moving our crew to The Whale's Tale, we purchased the property in the center of town. Here, the greater seacoast community welcomed us into our new home where we grew our business, built new friendships and raised our families. Lamie’s Inn brought us new ways to practice hospitality and introduced us to ``regulars`` from all around the world. We were honored to continue the Dunfey family's hospitable tradition of family business and community involvement, which aligned so well with the ideals our mother had modeled in our business. Our new location allowed exciting new opportunities. With the addition of Sunday Brunch, function rooms and outdoor dining, we loved finding new ways to serve our guests. As our catering business grew, we have been delighted to be part of your celebrations and life's milestones. We have truly gotten to do the work we love, working alongside our family and some of the best staff in the business. Of course, there can be challenges with running a restaurant and hotel but at the end of the day, the hospitality industry is what we love. Welcoming our guests when they walk through our doors, creating and serving delicious food and creating an atmosphere of warmth with a touch of history has been our mission. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of our story. It’s time for a new chapter with weekends off, holidays at home, and spending time with our growing families. We are pleased to introduce the next family, the Guertins. We leave the Old Salt and Lamie's Inn in John and Lori's capable hands. We're delighted that they plan to carry on with our staff and provide the same friendly, family-run atmosphere you've come to know. Gift certificates, reservations and functions will be honored under the new ownership. Please continue to patronize our beloved Old Salt and Lamie’s inn, with the kindest, most caring and talented staff and the loveliest customers in the world! We're proud to pass the torch. With love, The Higgins Family Joe & Karen Higgins, Mike & Liz Higgins, Kathi & Lee Taylor along with our children, their spouses and our grandchildren - Tanya, Katrina & Ryan (and Joey), Jake & Hannah, Andrew & Jewel, Morgan & Zack (and Olivia and Caden), Karsan & Brendan, and Garrett
